Not so Slack laptop
I’ve just picked a copy of Slackware 10 which was on the front of a magazine. I’ve meddled with other installations for this old laptop (HP Omnibook Xe2) without much joy, mostly due to a lack of command-line knowledge, so FreeBSD ultimately failed previously. I’d also tried doing an ‘easy’ installation for RedHat9 which told me after going through all the options that I couldn’t install RH9 on my machine. Doh.
So to Slackware, which I installed with a small amount of fuss, but not much, and though not networked is running Slackware with a KDE desktop. This makes me much happier. Thanks Linux Format (September 2004)
More later, for sure.
